Everyone LOVES slime!
Slime is great for sensory, especially the tactile or touch sense. Kids all over enjoy making and playing with slime. We know that following a recipe and planning the outcome helps children to develop executive function skills. What are they? read my earlier blog post if you are looking for more information on the critical importance of building executive function skills.
Let’s build some GOOGLE EYE SLIME……..
- White school glue
- Green food coloring
- Googly eyes
- Black glitter
- Two large bowls
- In one bowl, mix together ¾ of a teaspoon of Borax with 1 ⅓ cups hot water until the Borax is dissolved.
- In a second large bowl, combine 2 cups of white school glue with 1 ½ cups of hot water and 8-10 drops of green food coloring.
- Combine the contents of both bowls into one, and mix thoroughly. First, use a spoon to combine, and eventually switch to using your hands. Keep kneading and squeezing the mixture until all of the liquid has been incorporated into the slime, and you come out with the right consistency.
- Add in black glitter and googly eyes. You can mix to combine these, but they will naturally combine as you play with the slime. Disposable gloves are optional at this point if you want to keep the glitter from sticking to your hands initially. Once the glitter is incorporated into the slime, it will not stick to your hands.
